Gabriel González Castañé
Dr. Gabriel González Castañé is a Postdoctoral Researcher in University College Cork. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from University Carlos III of Madrid on the topic of energy aware Cloud Computing simulations, a Masters in Distributed systems, and a B.Eng in Computer Engineering.
He has participated in several Spanish National Projects, and currently is leading the simulation work package for the CACTOS FP7 project. During his research he developed the research simulation tool iCanCloud, built on the top of OMNeT++ and INET and designed to simulate cloud computing environments and the energy consumption of the underlying data centres.
Currently he is the main developer of the software which continues evolving to include new models and capabilities. His primary research interests are discrete event simulation, cloud computing, energy efficiency, and improving trade-offs such as cost, energy and performance.
