Dr. Anne C. Elster is Full Professor of High Performance Computing at the Dept. of Computer & Information Science, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway, and Visiting Researcher at ICES/University of Texas at Austin, USA. Her research interests are in parallel and heterogeneous computing, including GPU computing, and tools for program optimization. She started her research career at Cornell where she got her MS in 1988 and PhD in 1994.

She is a Senior Member of IEEE, a CUDA book author, and has so far advised several PhD students and over 60 Master students.

In addition to the CloudLightning project she has been co-organizing the EU LLP funded summer school on Multicore Programming (Rome, 2013), was one of four Working Group leaders for the COST ICT 0805 on Complex HPC and help propose and is currently involved with the Cost Action 1305 NESUS: Network for Sustainable Ultrascale Computing.

She has served on many program committees, incl. SC, IPDPS, HiPC, ParCo, Euro-Par, IEEE Custer, as well as a reviewer for several journals and recently became one of the Associated Editors of the Journal of Parallel & Distributed Computing, Elsevier.
